Team Canada • Based in NYC • 7x All-American • World Championships Semi-Finalist
Robert Heppenstall believes that how you show up matters. Whether he's training for a race, exploring a new city, or being present with the people he loves, he approaches everything with the same philosophy: show up fully, honor the process, and never stop evolving.
His breakthrough came at Wake Forest, where he shattered a 25 year old Canadian junior indoor 800m record with a time of 1:47.35. Seven All-American honors. Two NCAA Indoor Championships bronze medals. Then a torn plantar fascia forced a complete reset. Two months on crutches. A move to Colorado Springs as an unsigned athlete. The kind of moment that strips away everything except what truly matters.
The results followed: two Canadian national championships, silver at the 2023 Pan American Games, and a semi-final at the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships. But the metrics only tell part of the story. After choosing to take the 2025 outdoor season to invest in his long-term potential, Rob is now preparing for his next chapter with clarity.
Track has taught him about discipline, resilience, and the art of delayed gratification. But those lessons extend far beyond the oval. It's about finding flow in discomfort. Honoring your body's wisdom. Understanding that peak performance in any arena starts with showing up for yourself every single day. This is someone who knows the real work happens in the unglamorous moments, where discipline meets self-awareness, and every choice is a practice in becoming the best version of yourself.
Learning from injuries and setbacks instead of being defined by them. Building for the long term, even when immediate progress feels slow or invisible.
Embracing the discomfort where transformation happens. Understanding that strength, both mental and physical, is built in the moments you choose to show up anyway.
Running for reasons bigger than times and medals. Driven by the pursuit of becoming better as an athlete and as a person every single day.
Unwavering dedication to the unglamorous work. The early mornings, the painful rehab sessions, the details nobody sees. Excellence isn't built in moments of glory; it's built in consistent dedication to the process.
